Hi there, welcome! I am Shuying, an illustrator and architect based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
I’ve been incorporating drawings and graphics into my design proposals for over ten years as both an architect and interior designer. I’m also an avid artist, using my eyes, mind, computer, iPad, and good old pencil whenever I get the chance.
My journey into illustration began when I got the opportunity from a political foundation in Germany, while pursuing my master’s degree in architecture. During and after that time, I created numerous editorial illustrations on various political and journalistic topics for their magazines. This experience ignited my passion for editorial illustration, which remains my primary interest in the world of art and drawing. Additionally, I’ve ventured into creating illustrations and graphics for commercial use, including paper goods, stationery, and editorial applications.
Coming up with a great idea is an adventure shared by both illustrators and architects. It involves a mix of intellectual exploration and intuition, with a lot of trial and error—an exciting creative process that requires staying true to one’s identity. Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of active listening, clear communication, strong teamwork, and meeting deadlines. Every project I take on is handled with meticulous care to ensure that you’re happy with the final result, while also making sure our collaboration is an enjoyable experience.
